Chicone Longhouse Fundraising Party and Grand Opening!

The Nanticoke Historic Preservation Alliance is having a kick-off weekend for the Grand Opening of the newly completed Native American dwelling house or longhouse built at their property called Handsell on Indiantown Road in Vienna.

The completed Chicone Longhouse at Handsell is the FIRST replica of a native dwelling house built on the Eastern Shore in 200 years! As a kick-off for the opening of the completed project, there will be a party with silent auction at Layton's Chance Winery on Friday, April 25, 6 p.m. - 9 p.m. $10 per person/cash wine bar. Proceeds from this event will go to the maintenance of the longhouse and future educational programs.

There will be great food by the Handsell “chefs”, some inspired by Native cooking and entertainment will be provided by DJ "Chuckie Love" Hayward and Ron Warren, Flutist. A special array of items to bid on will be featured in the Silent Auction including a professional Custom Ink Drawing of Your Home, native basket, Framed Heron Print, Book on Native Americans, an Antique African Rifle, Indonesian Dinner for 8, hand-crafted mirror and much more.
